I had the privilege to be chosen as a finalist by the Missoula Public Art Committee to paint a mural of my own design on one of the traffic signal boxes (TSBs) downtown.
I have always loved seeing the various painted boxes around town and had a strong desire to paint one myself, so to have this opportunity was a dream come true! It felt so good to leave my own mark on the amazing community of Missoula that I love.
My design is titled "Huckleberry Haven". I included huckleberry bushes, ferns, Indian Paintbrushes and Lupine wildflowers. I chose these because they represent some of my favorite things of the Montana landscape.
I did this mural, as a goodbye gift, for the preschool I used to work at in Missoula, MT. This room was the children's library and quiet space, and I wanted to provide them with art that would comfort and inspire them and provide them with an escape. I had a lot of fun doing this mural and seeing how the children interacted with the space after it was finished. I did several other similar murals on the exterior fences of the school and at another preschool in the community on commission.
